Esta canción me trae muchos recuerdos de la adolescencia. Allá por 2006 o 2007 me enviaron un archivo con más de una hora de música sin parar que se llamaba DJ Taton - Poky Session (enero 2006), que contenía una sesión completa de éxitos del trance y eurodance de aquella época. Uno de ellos llegaba de la mano de Ian Van Dahl, un proyecto musical belga creado por Christophe Chantzis y Erik Vanspauwen, y cuya primera vocalista fue Martine Theeuwen, más conocida como Marsha, que es la que canta este tema, además de haber participado en su composición.
De hecho, Marsha comunicó que había escrito la letra ella sola y, además, a Christophe no le gustaba nada e intentó sacar al mercado una versión sin ella cantando, aunque no lo consiguió. Por si fuera poco, ella nunca apareció en los directos ni en el videoclip. La que sí aparece es Cindy Mertens, quien la sustituyó poco después y no hizo mucho más que cantar en algunos directos, ya que en 2001 fue relevada por Annemie Coenen.
No hay mucho más que decir sobre Castles In The Sky, aparte de que es un clásico de los 2000 que siempre está bien revivir de vez en cuando, y que posee una buena cantidad de remixes. Uno de los géneros que más escucho actualmente, aunque también depende de la época, es el dubstep o electro dance, además del drum&bass. No es exactamente lo mismo, pero a mí me genera sensaciones parecidas.
Si os gusta el electro dance, os recomiendo echar un vistazo a los canales de Youtube de NoCopyrightSounds, Monstercat y MrSuicideSheep. De todas formas, no os preocupéis, que os voy a dejar algunos ejemplos: In Your Eyes, Stardust, Outlaw, Keep You y Snowblind. Por último, no puedo dejarme la versión de Neovaii de la mítica Heart Shaped Box de Nirvana. ¿Alguien sabe quién es la cantante? No entiendo cómo puede ser tan difícil encontrar esta información, cuando debería dársele crédito.
¿Creéis que Castles habría estado mejor sin la letra? A mí me parece que le da un toque genial.
Parece que a veces hay problemas al intentar comentar desde el móvil (¡gracias por avisar, Juancho!). No tengo ni idea de por qué hay tantas complicaciones... Si os ocurre algo similar o tenéis alguna idea de cómo solucionarlo, os agradecería mucho que me lo dijerais.

This song brings back many memories of my teenage years. Back in 2006 or 2007 someone sent me a file with more than an hour of non-stop music called DJ Taton - Poky Session (January 2006), which contained a complete session of trance and Eurodance hits from that time. One of them came from the hand of Ian Van Dahl, a Belgian music project created by Christophe Chantzis and Erik Vanspauwen, and whose first vocalist was Martine Theeuwen, aka Marsha, who sings this song, in addition to having participated in its composition.
In fact, Marsha reported that she had written the lyrics alone and, furthermore, Christophe did not like them at all and tried to release a version without her voice; he did not succeed, though. As if that were not enough, she never appeared in the live shows or in the music video. The one who does appear is Cindy Mertens, who replaced her shortly after and did not do much more than singing in some live shows, since in 2001 Annemie Coenen took her place.
There's not much more to say about Castles In The Sky other than that it is a 2000s classic which is always nice to revisit it from time to time, and that there are lots of remixes of it. One of the genres that I listen to the most currently, although it also depends on the moment, is dubstep or electro dance, in addition to drum&bass. Even though it is not exactly the same, it gives me similar sensations.
